Why we don't have a dog......

Reagan and Benson love animals. They get so excited when they see a dog. They run up to almost every dog they see and try to pet them. You would think we would be nice enough to get them a pet dog. We aren't that nice so the boys just play with this dog. If you ask Reagan if he wants a dog he will let you know that he has one. This toy dog. If you ask him if he wants a real pet dog he will say "NO! We don't have a bucket and shovel. So I will never be able to play ball in the back yard again."

I took the boys to a birthday party last weekend. The birthday boy has a real dog a little bigger then the dog in this picture. Benson was so excited to see the dog and chased it all over the yard. When he finally caught the dog he sat on the dog just as he is sitting on the one in this picture. Then he started screaming "Go! Go! Go!" When the dog didn't go he got off the dog and kicked him real hard. After the kick the dog decided to go.

Our boys may really love dogs but for now we think it is best to just stick with this toy dog.

Crash-o-rama

Jonah got to go on his first big boy adventure with his dad yesterday. We went to Crash-a-rama at the local racetrack. Basically a bunch of events designed to result in crashes. Figure 8 bus racing, racing with no rear tires, racing without rules, etc. Unfortunately he couldn't hold still long enough to see the race with cars pulling boats or the school bus demolition derby. As with all good things we eventually had to leave with him kicking and screaming. He did get to ride in a bus on the track and got his own checkered flag. We will be going back next year.

This first picture is just a reminder that Jonah likes cars.

Pinewood Derby

So my first attempt at a pinewood derby as a "Dad" was a success. Charlie's mom asked me to help him with his car. He designed the shape of the car, sanded the car for 2 weeks and painted it all by himself. All I did was cut the wood, drill the holes and fill them with weight, and put the wheels on it. He won every single race in a dominating fashion!! The picture was taken before but his smile got even bigger as the night went on!!! I'm glad his mom asked me to help.

More Easter Pictures

We had a fun Easter Egg hunt this year. We did it differently so that each child had a different colot and only they could pick up that color off eggs. However, the big people did get to get into the fun by finding the odd coloors of eggs. Only a small amount of fighting went on.

Ashleigh showing off the new Easter egg basket that she made for Lauren.

Mason got to find all of the green eggs and he also found the "Silver" egg which allows him to get a very special day with Grandma.

Claire not only has a lovely Easter container made by her mom but she found all of the blue eggs.

Blake did a good job finding all of the yellow eggs.

Lauren found the pink eggs.

Ian was the finder of the orange eggs and he found the GOLDEN egg. It was a fun day.

One cute little chick!

Easter and Pittsburgh

Happy anniversary to Mom and Dad.

We went to the zoo in Pittsburgh. As you can see Jonah is not the best at smiling. Probably worse than Ian

A shark.

Norah had fun too.

It was windy

About Time

Benson is becoming such a big boy. The other day I realized it had been a little while since I had heard Benson so I thought that I should go look for him. He had filled his diaper so he grabbed a new one and climbed up onto the changing table and waited for me to come change him. Of course he still didn't hold still or cooperate while I changed him.
Benson is climbing on everything. He can climb up the cupboards to play in the sink. He can climb onto the top bunk (Which is why he had a red spot on his nose in this photo.) He also figured out how to climb out of his crib.
We decide it was probably safest to move him into Reagan's room to sleep in the bunk bed. Not only because of the climbing but we want him to get used to sleeping in his new bed before the baby comes. Friday night we tried to put Benson in the bunk bed for the night. He wanted nothing to do with it. He threw a huge fit and bawled. After a couple minutes of crying Reagan came out and told us that Benson was frightened. We tried again to place him in the bunk bed but we ended up just having him sleep in his crib.
Saturday morning I tried to have Benson take his nap in the bunk bed. He did much better. I layed down next to him for about 20 minutes and sang to him. When I left his room he only cried for about 20 seconds and then went to sleep. We tried the bunk bed again for his afternoon nap. Which I was a little worried about because Reagan takes a nap at the same time. The boys had a very enjoyable nap time. They took turns singing each other songs and giggling for about an hour. Benson did eventually take his nap though. When he woke up and came out of his room he was so proud of himself. Abe was then home form class so Benson brought Abe into his room and showed him his new bed. I ended up getting a night light for their room because I think the darkness may have contributed to him being scared. He did an awesome job going to bed last night and stayed in bed all night long. The only problem is he woke up about an hour earlier than normal.
