Park Fun

I took the boys to the park on Saturday. Can you tell that it was game day? I always forget how far the park is until I walk there pushing both boys in the double stroller. It was quite the workout. I figured the boys would be grateful that I took them so it would be worth it. Both boys were kind enough to repay me for my kindness. Reagan showed me how much he appreciated it by embarrassing me. On the walk he pointed at a person working in their yard. In his loudest voice Reagan scream "Mom is that a boy or a girl? I can't tell." I quietly told him that it was a man. Of course he wont drop the subject and continues to speak in his loudest voice as we pass the man a few feet away that the still doesn't know if it is a boy or girl. Then Benson decided to repay me by barfing on my lap. Not a little barf either. It smelled so bad and continued to smell worse as it heated up in the sun. So we weren't able to stay to long at the park because I stunk too bad.

Our boys love being outside and especially playing at the park. Reagan tries to convince me to take him almost daily. Now that Benson is walking he think the park is so much fun too. He has already figured out how to climb all the way to the top of the slide and likes sliding down them on his belly. One of the first times Benson tried walking down our driveway he noticed that it slops similar to a slide. So he got down on his belly and tried to slide down. He tried for a minute or to to slide but eventually figured out that it wasn't going to happen. I am glad that it is starting to cool off a little here so that we can be outside more.

Benson's haircut

Benson got his first haircut a couple weeks ago. It took me a little while to post this. Here are some before and after shots.

I put Benson's hair in a pony so you could see how long it was. Don't worry the ponytail wasn't in for long. Reagan bawled when he saw his brother looking like this. He started screaming "Mom, Benson is not a Girl! He is my brother! Take that out of his hair!!!"

Another before shot of Benson's wild hair.

The first snip of hair.

Who loves haircuts?

Do I look good in my haircut? Hummmm (The after shot.)

After going through pictures trying to find a good after shot I realized there was no cute hair shots. Benson really does have wild hair. At least it is no longer in his eyes. I hope as Benson gets older his hair will thicken up and start laying down more and in the right direction.

Oh how I missed thee, Boise....

I wish that I could have been a part of the madness in Boise this weekend. How I hope that we can return to Boise some day as an administrator. By then the stadium will hold more people and I can afford season tickets. So what do you say Dad, John, Dallen, and Cory how about in 10 years we plan on getting season tickets together??? I'll see if we can schedule Georgia Tech for that season Dallen so we can relive the yellow jacket magic at Bronco Stadium!!!

Last triathlon of the year

It wasn't as fun as the Dirty Dash, but I did my last triathlon of the year this weekend.

I did a lot of zig-zagging in the swim. It was dark and gloomy and I have very tinted coggles, and there were only 4 bouys for the whole 1500 meters. I could not see at all were I was guing unless I completely stopped swimming. A couple times someone in a kayak had to tell me that I was off course. Once I swan into the kayak that just told me that I was off course. Despite all of this I finished in 33rd place in the swim of 250 people, 27:04. I suspected that I was doing quite poorly at this point, especially since I was passed by a girl that started 4 minutes after me.

Bike was 18th overall at 21.4 MPH.

I did my fastest run of the year in 37:17. I beat everyone else in the run by almost 2 minutes.

Overall I finished 4th, just 24 seconds behind 3rd place. (10 minutes behind 1st place).

Dirty Dash

John, Cory, Ian and Mason all did the "Dirty Dash" on Saturday. It was a 10K obstacle course race at Bogus basin, but the kids just did the last 1/2 mile or so. The obstacles included stacks of haybales to climb over, tunnels to crawl through, tires to step over, a series of about 8 gradually taller walls to climb over (the last of which I think most people wouldn't have been able to climb alone), a 1 mile very steep hill to climb (I had to walk about 4 times) a long slip and slide to go down, a section where people threw water ballons at you and then, finally, a big pit of mud in which we had to crawl under strings of flags. It was a blast. The only bad part was that the course wasn't marked very well. By the middle of the race, I couldn't see anyone in front of me or anyone behind me. I came to an unmarked fork in the road, went the wrong way, and then had to turn around and go back after a while. I think I ended up 7th place out of about 400 participants, but I haven't seen any official results yet.

Hidden Springs Triathlon

Ian and Mason both did races Friday night. Mason did a 1 mile run and got 3rd place in his age goup. Ian did his longest triathlon ever -- 150 yard swim, 3 mile bike and 1 mile run. He got fourth in his age group. He would have been faster if he could have figured out how to take his swim cap off a little better.

Another Race

I ran another 5K today. My goal this time was to run it in under 28 minutes and I wanted to have under a 9 minute pace. I achieved my goal. I was able to run it in 27:48 which gave me a 8:55 pace. It also gave me a good enough time to earn 3rd place in my age division. I also had some of the cutest fans cheering me on. Reagan told me before the race started that he thought I would win the race because I was the best. Check out the medal! Only in Texas would the medal be of the state.

Hot Air Balloons!

Two weeks ago today, we got up early one morning and went downtown to see the hot air balloons go up. It was so pretty. We stopped at the store to get some doughnuts and milk, got to the park, laid down our blanket and enjoyed the show. The kids loved it! It was a special morning getting to see the balloons and be with dad before he went to work. Afterwards, while I went to my Dr. Appointment Cory took them to the park and to see some fish and they really enjoyed that too. Here are the pictures from a fun day I wont soon forget.

Benson walking

Benson has been walking 6 or 7 steps at a time for a few weeks now. I have been trying to capture a video of it for awhile but that is a difficult task. Benson refuses to walk when we want or ask him to. He will lock his legs and immediately fall to the floor. For the past few weeks if I wasn't in the room but was watching him play with Reagan I would catch him walking around. If he noticed me watching him he would immediately fall to the ground. On occasion he would walk across the room while Abe or I was in the room. He would never do it a second time for us to get the camera. The last couple days he has been walking more and more so I was finally able to get a small video of him.

Articles of Faith

Our ward's primary ask all the children to work on memorizing the Articles of Faith this summer. They challenged all the kids in Senior primary to memorize all the articles of faith and told the Junior primary they had to memorize as many articles of faith as they are old. Then they told the kids they had all summer to work on them. As they learned them they were to pass them off to their teacher. When the summer was over any child that memorized the Articles of Faith would earn a king sized candy bar. In primary yesterday the Bishopric came in and awarded the children that accomplished the task their certificate and the candy bar. Reagan memorized the 1st, 2nd and 8th Articles of Faith. So he got his prize yesterday. He was the only child under the age of 7 to memorize them.

Brotherly Love

It fun watching my boys to see how much they love each other. It makes me so happy to see that they love playing with each other. Reagan usually wakes up before Benson in the morning. He enjoys having a little time alone eating his breakfast but if Benson sleeps too long Reagan will go into Benson's room start throwing toys into Benson's bed so they can start playing together. Yesterday Benson woke up before Reagan. He enjoyed a little cuddle time with his mommy but then he wanted down. He went strait to Reagan's room and sat outside the door. He didn't know what to do without his Reagan. He paced the hallway banged on the door a few times sat some more and luckily Reagan finally came out of his room and made Benson a very happy boy.

The other night we were watching TV together as a family. Reagan started shouting that he needed someone to lay with him on the couch. Benson was very happy that Reagan choose him to lay on the couch with him first. Reagan also wanted me to join them too. I'm not sure why but I actually tried to squeeze on the couch with them. Of course there wasn't enough room and I immediately fell off. Which made the boys even happier. Below is a picture of the boys laying on the couch together watching TV.

Preschool

Today was Reagan's first day of Preschool. We started a group with 4 other kids. Each mother takes a turn being the teacher. We meet every Thursday from 10:00-12:30. I got to take the first turn being the teacher. Reagan was so excited this morning. He couldn't wait for all of his friends to come to his house for school. He wore his backpack and carried around his backpack all morning until the other kids came over. He didn't really need the backpack since school was at his house but he was so excited that he couldn't go without it. Reagan did a very good job today.

Cassette tapes

Have you ever wondered why people don't use cassette tapes anymore? Well I figured it out yesterday.

A cassette tape may entertain two boys for about 30 minutes. The only problem is it takes about an 1 1/2 hours to convince the older boy he has to clean it. After a few fits and lots of crying the big boy finally picked a hunk of the tape and threw it in the toilet. A big enough hunk that I thought might cause problems if it was flushed down. Not only did he throw it in the toilet but after throwing it in the toilet he then decides to go to the bathroom(#2). Which then makes the mother mad. The big boy is no longer upset. He now thinks the whole thing is quite funny. The mother lets the big boy know how unfunny this is and makes sure the big boy knows that he will still be picking up all the tape. The big boy then throws some more fits and cries some more. He does pick the rest of the tape up and throws it in the trash this time.

This is why I believe people don't use cassette tapes any more.

Happy half birthday Claire!

Happy Half Birthday! Look who turned 4 1/2.
On saturday we celebrated Claires half birthday. She had a great day. She got a poptart for breakfast, ( which we had to put a candle in and sing to her.)We went downtown to a park, and for lunch we took her to Burger King to play on the toys. Then that night she got to go to the store with mom, push her own mini shopping cart and pick out some cake and frosting. She chose confetti cake and rainbow chip frosting. good choice if I do say so myself. We went home and she helped make the most yummy cupcakes and she then she invited her friend Emma over to play dress up and eat the cupcakes. She had a good day and loved all the attention. I dont know if she understood why she didn't get any presents though. We thought the burger king crown was good enough.

Lauren enjoyed the cupcakes.

Claire is such a wonderful little girl. I still think she is growing up way to fast!!!
