DC

We are having fun here in DC. We live across the street from the Iwo Jima memorial and are about a mile from the white house and other sights. I go to classes all day and Marie gets to stay home and play with Jonah. He is getting cuter, but we don't have a way of getting photos on the computer from the camera. You will have to wait.

CookBook

I just called Ashleigh a minute ago to get a recipe from her. I told her that I found a recipe to make beer bread from scratch. As we were talking we decided that we really should start making an Ashby Family Cook Book. Mom has been talking about it for awhile but as far as we know it hasn't started yet. So lets get it started. Everyone can email me your recipes. That way they will all be on the computer and it will be easier because one person won't have to type them all up. Start thinking about recipes that you or your families make that you would like to share. We want soups, salads, main dishes, desserts, breads, or any other recipes you have tried and liked. It is always fun to get a new recipe and try it out. I don't always trust famous cookbooks because I don't know if it is actually good. I trust all of your taste buds so I bet it would be a great book. We thought it would be good to get the book started this summer when I come down to Boise. Which is most of June and the beginning of July. We have an email address that we don't use much so if you send the recipes to this email it will be easiest for me to keep track of.

Sprinkler

Reagan discovered the sprinklers the other day. We hadn't planned on it so he wasn't really dressed for the occasion.

Basketball

We watched a little boy on Friday. Reagan and the little boy enjoyed playing ball. Reagan was good at stealing the ball but felt bad when the other boy cried and gave the ball back.

Jonah is happy

This is why Jonah is happy. Nobody was injured.

Jonah is not always cute.

Ultra sound

The ultra sound went really good. We both thought it was going to be a boy, but we were both hoping for a girl. After a good half hour,we found out that we are having another girl! we are so happy. I am so excited that claire will have a little sister to play with. who knows, we might just have a house full of girls. When i look back at my childhood, my mom and us 4 girls had so much fun together, and now that we are older we have even more fun. so although we might have a house full of drama in the future, i am trying to look at the positive side of things. Jill knows what i am talking about, she grew up in a house full of girls and she really enjoyed it. i hope one of my girls can have a girl cousin somewhere around her age..... just watch, you will all have boys and we will be the "weird family", that no one wants to hang out with, because your kids will think our kids have coodies.

The Tax Man Came

Tomorrow is April 14th and I will make my annual pilgrimage to the Post office. After many hours of frustration, I will get a whopping $12.00 back in Federal Taxes. Sadly to say I have to pay $279.00 in State Taxes. I don't know if it is a good thing or not but next year I will have more interest to deduct so maybe I will get some money back. However, I am a day ahead of many people who will mail the taxes on the 15th. I have done that before, it is not fun!

Sleepin Through the Night

Sleeping through the night or "STTN", for an infant is defined medically as 5 hours typically midnight to 5 am. Well, Jonah has accomplished this going from about 9pm-2-2:30. He then will wake up at 5 to eat, then up for the day around 7:30-8am. Not bad, however, I would like to inform the medical community that 5 hours is not sleeping through MY night. Instead I have to settle for complaining to my husband and doing sleepy things like putting milk in the cupboard, and cereal in the refrigerator.

Also, did/does anybody else's baby grunt in their sleep, like continously for like an hour at a time? Jonah likes to do this and wiggle but stay asleep. He will usually do this when I lay him back down around 3, then again at 5:30, then he will start to do it around 7 ish as he is waking up. Dallen tries to solve the problem by picking him up and letting sleep on his chest, but then we just have a grunty, wiggly baby in our bed....

Our First TORNADO WARNING(s)

So the last two nights we have had tornado warnings. None have touched down, nor have we seen any close to us but there have been some within 30 miles. Each night we have seen the warnings as we watched TV. The first night we were really irritated as it continued to interrupt the ending of "The Biggest Loser," until we realized that it was our county that was the one under the warning. Then the comments about moving to a secure location and about covering up with mattresses started to seem more real. Well it made for a little bit of anxiety but that died down as we said our prayers each night. This morning at 3am we were awakened by the storm with powerful winds and rain. It was crazy. It's all a little crazy and we realized that we have no plan nor did we even know what to do in the event of a tornado. We have done tornado drills at school but at school their are no mattresses to put on top of me.
I'm not too concerned about tornadoes but our first tornado warnings have made us aware of their reality in big ol' Texas!!

Change

Like I said in the last post I was going through Reagan's clothes. The following pictures are to show you how Reagan changed from last summer when he wore this outfit to now. Do you think he looks any different? I think he still has the same look he just look a little older and more mature.

This summer

Last Summer

Just because it fits...

I went through Reagan's clothes the other day to decide which summer clothes fit and which clothes I should put away. I put this outfit on Reagan and decided it didn't matter if the outfit fits. It just looks too silly on. I'm not sure if it is because the outfit is a little girly or too babyish. What do you think? Should I continue to have Reagan wear the outfit this summer?

Hotel fun and pregancy

In case you didnt know, we are in idaho falls. cory is here for business and claire and i came along for fun. Well, i have taken lots of fun pictures of us at the hotel here but then i realized i have no way of uploading them to the computer... so we will just have to wait until i get back home this weekend to post pictures. everyday for the past week my day has begun with eating continental breakfast (eggs, sausage, and waffles) and then coming back to the room and watching some tv. then me and claire go swimming and hot tubbing, which is so much fun all by ourselves! i hope you catch the sarcasm. then we eat lunch, take a nap and watch a bit more tv before cory gets back from work. we eat dinner, go swimming again and then put claire to bed. my legs are burned from the clorine in the water. we have litterally went twice a day for the past week. oh well, there is nothing better to do.

We did get to go to rexburg over the weekend which was fun. i got to see two of my good friends, heather and april. rexburg has changed a lot since we left. the temple is complete and beautiful. i got to go to my 2 favorite resturants while there. Craigos pizza and mill hollow- the best frozen yogurt i have found.

I am supposedly 16 weeks pregnant now, and during the weekend we also got to go shopping. i got 4 new maternity shirts and found some great maternity pants that i plan on getting when i get a little bigger. i am showing though, and i will also post some pictures of my belly as it grows. i sware i am furthur along than 16 weeks though, i can feel the baby move around- (not kicks, but the body) my stomach gets hard several times during the day and night, which only happend to me latter on in the pregnancy with claire. at 16 weeks the baby is 4 1/2 inches long and about the size of a avacado. some can feel the butterfly feelings of movement but some dont feel it until 20 weeks. i definetly dont feel butterflies, i feel a head or butt or back, i feel the babys body! its weird. who knows, maybe its just a big gas bubble. haha. If you didnt notice i changed my username from cory and ashleigh, to just ashleigh. I told cory that if he wants his name back he will have to contribute to this blog as well. If i am the only one writing stuff on the blog his name doesnt deserve to be on it. plus, this is his family, maybe they would like to hear from him once in a while. well, even though he isnt here, he as well as i, send our love to you all.

Happy Birthday, Marie

All of us hope that you have a wonderful birthday!! Even though little Jonah is so sweet you will enjoy a little bit of a break without him. I hope you have a wonderful dinner and that Dallen makes you a delicious cake and does the dishes. (Is that asking too much)?
