Nationally ranked

I got the latest issue of Ultrarunning magazine in the mail the other day. It included a list of the top performances from 2009. Check it out.

21st fastest 50K time in the country last year!

In June I am going to do a 50 mile race. I will not make the fastest time list because this is the elevation profile. 10000 feet of climbing.

Truck Day

Today may have been the best day of Reagan's life. The library has been advertising Truck Day for the past few weeks. Reagan was so excited this morning when we told him today was Truck Day. I wasn't sure what to expect from this event but I figured it would be a great way to get out of the house. When we pulled up in the parking lot there was probably 50 different vehicles. There were fire trucks, ambulances, tractors, moving trucks, dump trucks, buses, news trucks, garbage trucks and much more. They let the children climb in them, play behind the wheel, honk the horns and do whatever else a child may dream of doing. Reagan had so much fun. I think he got in each truck at least twice.

Here is a picture of Reagan and Abe getting on a school bus.

Here is Reagan choosing his seat with his friends.

Reagan driving a garbage dump truck. The diver even helped Reagan lift and lower the dumpster.

Reagan steering the tractor.

Doesn't he look so happy.

Abe and Reagan in front of the fire truck.

Now Reagan is trying to decide if he wants to be a tractor guy or a fireman when he grows up.

March Madness

It's time for some March Madness. I believe that this is
the 8th year that we have been doing this (although I am
probably wrong). It began in the house on Ferry Street in
Eugene, Oregon with Josh, Jared, Randy, Travis, Buzz and
myself. We were all working on our degrees from University
of Oregon. We are now spread all over and have continued
what has been a pretty fun tradition. Through the years we
have added many family members and friends to this friendly
competition, so feel free to share this link with anyone
else that may want in.

You are invited to join my online NCAA March Madness bracket

First Race of the Year

John, Ian and Mason ran their first race of the year today. It was the YMCA St. Patrick's Day Basic 5 run. Ian and Mason did the 1 mile kids race and John did the 5K race. We were all a little sad when we woke up to an inch of snow, and it was a very cold and muddy race.
John got 4th place overall and 1st place for his age group. He was disapointed he didn't get 3rd place because the top 3 finishers got plaques and prizes. Plus the guy who got third was really old . . . like Grandpa old.

Ian got 3rd place for all 7-8 year olds, so he was VERY proud of himself.

Mason was doing really well at the beginning . . . but then a kid tripped him and he fell flat on his face (see picture above). He tore a big whole in his new sweat pants and he had quite the bloody knee. He walked and cried almost the whole race, but at the end he sprinted past a 4 year old girl, which made him a little bit happy.

Hide and Seek

Reagan wanted to play a fun game of hide and seek this evening. He forgot to tell me this. As I was cleaning up Reagan went and hid. After enjoying the peace and quiet in my home for at least a half hour I started wondering what Reagan was up to. I called for him but I got no response. After calling for him a few times I decided I had better go see what he was up to. I went in Reagan's room but didn't see him. I was a little worried if Reagan wasn't playing in his room this probably meant he was making a mess somewhere. I then decided I needed to find Reagan before he made too big of a mess. I searched all over my house and couldn't find him anywhere. I was starting to worry that maybe he had left the house. Then I opened the closet and saw Reagan sound asleep in there. I managed to drag him out of the closet, put his pajamas on him and put him in his bed without waking him up. I thought he looked so cute in the closet sleeping that I had to take pictures to share. Now I just hope he doesn't wake up in a few hours wanting to finish his game of hide and seek.

Jonah's Birthday

Jonah started his birthday out by waking up at 6:15, about 45 minutes before he should. Then as we were leaving the house in the morning he decided to barf. Dad had to call in sick. Then it turned out he was not sick, he just barfed. He was healthy enough to learn this new trick.

Marie made him a nice cake. She also made a yummy carrot cake for the rest of us to eat.

Unfortunately while eating dinner he found the cake behind him and decided to play with the decorations. Marie was not happy.

He didn't eat the cake, but he did like playing in it.
