John and Jill both ran the "Beat Pete" 5K race this morning. It is fundraiser race for Boise State scholarships. The point of the race is that you get to run against Coach Pete, the Boise State Football Coach. For every person that beats Pete, he donates $5 to the scholarship fund.
John ran the race in 20:55, which was better than his goal of 22 minutes. Coach Pete ran it in about 26:30. Jill ran it in just under 28:00, which was better than her goal of 29 minutes.
Jill actually ran right next to Pete for much of the race. She would pass Pete, then Pete would pass her, and she'd pass him again when he'd stop for water.
John got a T-shirt that says "I beat Pete," and Jill got a T-shirt that says "I'll Beat Pete Next Year."
Good job to both of you. I am pretty sure that I wouldn't have beaten Pete either.
