Sleeping through the night or "STTN", for an infant is defined medically as 5 hours typically midnight to 5 am. Well, Jonah has accomplished this going from about 9pm-2-2:30. He then will wake up at 5 to eat, then up for the day around 7:30-8am. Not bad, however, I would like to inform the medical community that 5 hours is not sleeping through MY night. Instead I have to settle for complaining to my husband and doing sleepy things like putting milk in the cupboard, and cereal in the refrigerator.
Also, did/does anybody else's baby grunt in their sleep, like continously for like an hour at a time? Jonah likes to do this and wiggle but stay asleep. He will usually do this when I lay him back down around 3, then again at 5:30, then he will start to do it around 7 ish as he is waking up. Dallen tries to solve the problem by picking him up and letting sleep on his chest, but then we just have a grunty, wiggly baby in our bed....
Reagan grunted all the time the first couple months. I wondered if he was normal. I guess that he must be if Jonah does it too. I hated getting up a couple times during the night. At least it is just once during the night. Jonah will gradually increase his sleep time. I didn't think Reagan would ever sleep through the night. I think he was 3-4 months old when he finally slept through the night. That was a wonderful night. The first time he slept through the night was right after he had his 2 month shots. I kept waking up during the night wondering when he would wake up. I didn't sleep real well because I would wake up every 1/2 hour to listen to him. In the morning was worried that maybe he had died during the night because he hadn't woken up. I peeked on him and he was ok. When Abe woke up he asked me what time Reagan woke up. I told him he didn't. Abe was worried and ran to his room to see if he was alive.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the day will come before you know it when Jonah finally sleeps through the night.
I don't think I would bring Jonah to bed with you. I think that babies enjoy it and wake up just so they can get in bed with you.
Ben makes a lot of noises during the night. However, it is more like a snore than a grunt. Sometimes he gets up during the night also.
ReplyDeleteAll of my babies have done the grunting thing. That's why I never let them stay in my room! I can't sleep. I'm sorry you can't do that. I guess eventually you will just get used to it, and he will get used to your noises and movement. I really hated the grunting thing. I always thought that they were waking up so I could never sleep. Good Luck!
